March 31, 2023We’re thrilled to announce the success of our recent library book sale at Maple Leaf Foreign Nationals School Dalian!
Thanks to the hard work of our amazing student council, the school store was able to offer a fantastic selection of books at unbeatable prices.
Not only did the sale raise funds for our school, but it also gave students the opportunity to discover new books and enjoy some great reads.
We’re so proud of our students for their dedication to promoting literacy and making a difference in our school community. Keep up the great work, everyone!

MLFNS Dalian Participates in Swimming Lessons
March 30, 2023Maple Leaf Foreign Nationals School Dalian has partnered with a local swimming pool to offer swimming lessons for our students. Our students are receiving professional instruction on beginner swimming, advanced swim strokes, and swim safety. This is satisfying many of our Physical Health & Education curriculum components, and teaching students some life-saving skills. Students will be visiting once per month until the end of the school year to enhance their swimming ability and develop water safety awareness.
Our hope at MLFNS-Dalian, is to offer swimming as a regular part of our school curriculum. Additionally, we are hoping that this can lead to new opportunities for our student athletes!
Understanding and Interpreting Art in our Community
March 29, 2023On Wednesday March 15, as part of our Art Education curriculum, seniors students from grades 7, 8 and 9 visited the ACX Art Center Xinghai in downtown Dalian. This year, in all three grades, students have been working on understanding and manipulating elements of art and principles of design to create mood and convey ideas in art. Our visit to ACX
helped them to make connections between these concepts and how they can be applied to make amazing works of art. Students were able to examine and respond to works from artists in China, as well as from Japan, Italy and other countries.
We would like to thank the ACX Art Center Xinghai for hosting us and giving us an incredibly detailed tour of the pieces inside, and we hope to return again!
MLFNS-Dalian Waterloo Math Contest
March 17, 2023On November 19, 2020 five senior students from Maple Leaf Foreign Nationals School Dalian participated in the Canadian Intermediate Mathematics Contest (CIMC), hosted by the University of Waterloo in Waterloo, Ontario.
The CIMC is designed to give students up to Grade 10 an opportunity to develop and show their mathematical problem-solving abilities.
Shoan Cooper, Zuri Qu, Adrian Wan, Samhita Bhuvanagiri and Jayden Kim challenged themselves by participating in this year’s contest. This was a two-hour exam, and students had to work out 9 questions during that time.
Students are eagerly awaiting their results, which will be released next week. We plan to write several more math contests throughout the school year.
