Principal

Mr. Kersey hails from Vernon, British Columbia Canada. Before arriving in China in 2017, he worked in the British Columbia public education sector in School District 22 Vernon. He is entering his 2^nd year as Principal of Dalian Foreign Nationals School and has previously worked as a Vice Principal at the Maple Leaf International School in Dalian. He completed his undergraduate work at Brown University and obtained a B.A. in Organizational Management. He was also a 4-year letter winner on the Brown University Men’s Ice Hockey Team (NCAA). He later completed his master’s degree in Education at Sacred Heart University in Fairfield, CT, USA and his Teacher Education Program through Simon Fraser University in Vancouver, British Columbia Canada. Jade has five members in his family including his wife Jacalyn, daughter Maryn, and sons Scott and Adam.

Principal’s Message

Welcome to MLFNS Dalian!

My name is Jade Kersey, and I am the Principal of Maple Leaf Foreign Nationals School – Dalian. I have been in China with my family since 2017 and have served as a Vice Principal at our Maple Leaf High School in Dalian before assuming the principalship at MLFNS-Dalian in 2019. Prior to my arrival in China, I spent 10 years working in the British Columbia, Canada public education system. I am here with my wife and my daughter who is also a grade 7 student at our school.

Our school has earned a reputation for our close sense of community amongst our students, staff, and teaching faculty. We like to refer to our students as our own mini “United Nations” because we have so many countries represented at our school. It never ceases to amaze me how well our students integrate and reflect what it means to be a global citizen. Our mission at MLFNS-Dalian is to develop responsible citizens that make meaningful contributions to the global community. We foster that development by focusing on our school vision of language and academic proficiency, personal core competencies, and adhering to our foundational beliefs.

MLFNS-Dalian provides students with an amazing educational experience. Our students have gone on to graduate and accept offers from top 100 global universities. We hope that your family will join us on your academic and personal growth journey!
